We are so thankful for all of our sponsors and players who showed up to support CCC students today! With everyone's support we were able to raise over $20,000 for student scholarships in Grand Island this year! We would also like to thank our Golf Pros, Riverside Country Club and the Pro Shop for all their work in helping make this event possible. We are all looking forward to seeing our sponsors and players again next year at Lochland Country Club in Hastings!

We welcome you to join us at the Hastings campus September 7th 4-7 p.m. to celebrate our community partnerships, explore highlighted CCC programs, and indulge on hors d'oeuvres from CCC Culinary Arts this free, Chamber Business After Hours event.

On July 25, 2023 dirt flew as Tom & Sue Pirnie, along with several donors, co-chairs, children, and CCC alums turned shovels at Ryder Park to break ground for the Pirnie Inclusive Playground.

This 27,000 square foot playground was imagined in an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) Classroom at Central Community College in the spring of 2021. The OTA Students were challenged to design a community project that would increase the mobility and quality of life for individuals who are unable to fully participate in daily activities due to physical or psychological limitations.

“Heartwell Renewables is proud to present this check for $100,000 to Central Community College to further opportunities for technical training and development,” said Rocky DeMello, Heartwell senior operations advisor. “As neighbors, not only do we share a property line, but we also share a commitment to advancing innovation and knowledge in the Hastings community and beyond. We are grateful for this partnership and look forward to continued collaboration in the weeks, months and years ahead.”

The drive and passion of the Highway Creepers Car Club is being felt by Central Community College’s auto body students. The Highway Creepers Car Club held their annual “Rock N Rods Car Show” this past April with proceeds benefiting the Tony Turner Memorial Scholarship at Central Community College.

Beating last year’s gift, over $12,000 from the car show was raised to support the Tony Turner Memorial Scholarship for auto body students at CCC. This endowed scholarship was established due to a love of cars, to honor a friend, and a desire to see the industry grow. “This donation is going to give scholarships to students for years to come,” said Mike Hoskins, CCC auto body instructor.

The auto body technology program at Central Community College-Hastings has secured a newly endowed scholarship.

The Highway Creepers Car Club of Kearney has donated $10,001 dollars to the Tony Turner Memorial Scholarship, which will generate funds for students in the auto body technology program. Turner was the owner of Turner Body Shop, located in Kearney and Holdrege, until his untimely death in 2019 at age 34 as the result of a car accident.

The money was raised at the Highway Creepers’ annual car show in April, which included a live and silent auction, a 50/50 raffle and a fill-the-bucket campaign. Highway Creepers President Matt Mattson also credited the Bummers Car Club of Sioux City, Iowa, and the Omaha-based Headliners Car Club for each providing auction items.
