Director of Donor & Community Engagement

Position Description

General Summary:

The Director of Donor & Community Engagement for the Central Community College Foundation is responsible for planning, developing, and executing comprehensive fundraising strategies to support the mission and goals of Central Community College. This position involves cultivating relationships with donors, alumni, and community partners to secure major gifts, planned giving, and annual contributions. The Director of Donor & Community Engagement will work closely with the Executive Director and the Foundation Board to identify fundraising priorities and enhance the college's impact through philanthropic support.

 

Job Specifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field; advanced degree or CFRE certification preferred.
  2. Minimum of five years of experience in fundraising, development, or related roles, preferably in a higher education or nonprofit environment.
  3. Proven track record of successful major gift fundraising and donor cultivation.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling proposals and presentations.
  5. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  6. Proficiency in using donor management software and fundraising tools.
  7. A moderate level of understanding in the Microsoft Windows computer environment.
  8. Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  9. Passion for the mission of Central Community College and a commitment to advancing its goals.
  10. Requires a high level of confidentiality
  11. A valid driver’s license is required

Working Conditions:

  1. Normal office environment with little exposure to noise, dust, temperature extremes, etc. Uses computer 51 to 80% of worktime.

  2. Lifts or moves up to 20-40 pounds 6-20% of the time.

  3. Exposure to hazards of driving resulting from the necessity to travel to and off campus events 21-50% of the time.

Essential Functions:

Fundraising Strategy and Execution:

  • Develop and implement a strategic fundraising plan to increase financial support for the college's programs and initiatives.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift prospects, including individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Plan and execute annual giving campaigns, special events, and other fundraising activities.

Donor Relations and Stewardship:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential donors, ensuring timely and effective communication.
  • Develop and implement donor recognition and stewardship programs to acknowledge and appreciate contributions.

Grant Writing and Management:

  • Research and identify grant opportunities that align with the college's mission and priorities.

Alumni/Booster Engagement:

  • Develop and implement strategies to engage alumni and/or boosters in the life of the college and foster a culture of giving back.
  • Coordinate alumni and/or booster events and activities to strengthen connections and build a supportive alumni/booster network.

Collaboration and Leadership:

  • Work closely with the Executive Director and Foundation Board to align fundraising efforts with strategic priorities.
  • Provide leadership and support to volunteers, staff, and board members involved in development activities.
  • Collaborate with college leadership to identify funding needs and opportunities.

Data Management and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor and prospect records in the foundation's database.
  • Prepare regular reports on fundraising progress and outcomes for the Executive Director and Board.
